We Deaf born into this world got to start living, and experience life as it is, no matter what is happening in our society, whether it's here in America or in the third world countries. Audism is a fact of life, it's here, there, and everywhere. Audism existed at the dawn of man, perhaps thousands of years, if not millions, of years before AGB, exists today, and will be with us forever. We are wasting our lives complaining about AGB, let get this straight, AGB is dead. There is a new generation of Deaf Americans that can lead us forward into the future, not backward into the past debating what occurs at Milan over a century ago, but what needs to be done to remove communication barriers in our neighborhoods, making it more accessible. Gallaudet is not the Deaf utopia, is that a factor why we are seeing students withdrawal from college, not willing to face reality. What's their excuses, unsafe campus, diversity issues, crime, and racism. So what, Gallaudet is a reflection of the world we live in. Our politicians has to deal with problems in our cities, our administrators has to deaf with problems in our classrooms, and we Deaf have to deal with problems in our communities. The choice is yours, you can just blame oppression, practicing existentialism or you can start living, overcoming any obstacles in your way. Audism is a fact of life, so deal with it, rather than trying escape AGB's shadow. We Deaf ought to educate the public about audism, hell no, we don't see black people educating the public about racism so why should we.. It won't do any good, the laws in our hands, and prejudices are unacceptable and they know it. Being ignorant is not an excuse. Women had to put up with sexual harassment and starting to come out after all these years, putting men on notice that such behavior will not be tolerated in our workrooms, or anywhere else. Audists be warned, your days are numbered.
