Diomede Islands are in the center of the Bering Strait between Alaska and Siberia. Russia and the United States are only two miles apart. The International Date Line is right in the middle so when it's 12 noon here on our side, it's 9 a.m. on their side, a difference of 21 hours. They use the term "Ice Curtain" here rather than the "Iron Curtain" that we are familiar with in Europe during the Cold War. A great vacation spot, not!
