Today is World Hearing Day so what is so controversial about it? It reignite the oralism versus sign language debates, Deaf Anthology will attempt to clarify the purpose of why we celebrate this day. The International Cochlear Day was just last week and the International Sign Language Day is coming up in the fall, so what the heck it's all about anyway? There is an objection to the usage of the term, "disabling hearing loss." in one of the British Deaf blogs which also reminds us that submissions published doesn't necessarily reflect the viewpoints of the its editor.
Advocacy is our responsibility in reaching out to the general public our positions on these matter. We want to be heard, not seen! We can coexist and reap the benefits by working together. It's time that we Deaf start living, not merely existing, life is short. We ought to be optimistic about the future, our Deaf children depends on us, so let leave them a better world for them to to live in.
