Jerry Lewis

"The Day the Clown Cried," is a Jerry Lewis film that he directed  but it was never released. The film is based on a true story of Helmut Doork, a German clown who was forced to perform for the Jewish children in the concentration camp, leading them to the gas chambers.
A copy of the film was donated to the Library of Congress under one condition that it never be shown in the theatres nor be televised until long after his death.
There are perhaps hundreds of films hidden in the vaults that the general public haven't yet seen.
I think Jerry Lewis as a comedian couldn't handled serious subjects such as the Holocaust which are very sensitive and could be controversial that may subjected him to criticism by risking his career on a new genre.
I am just as curious as you are, hopefully that someday we'll be able see the film and it may win a few awards posthumously.

This is Smokey stay tuned for the next episode of Deaf Anthology, Good Night Deaf America.
