Charles Sheldon “Shelly” Scott, an Alaskan native, was the only Deaf individual ever to receive a diploma from the clown college of the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus here in Florida. He graduated from MSSD in Washington, DC. He also is a talented artist, his oil painting of a tiger and cub on canvas was hanged at the circus' headquarter. Charles died of complications from lung cancer twelve years ago. I'm disappointed that future generations would never have that opportunity to see the "Greatest Show on Earth."
