Deaf job opportunities once were limited to various trades and Deaf schools set up vocational programs to prepare them. Eva Dicker, an Interpreter Training Program (ITP) coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) has published a book, "Our Father Abe," about her father, a Deaf shoe repairman.
