Interpreters

The FBI has just completed its investigation in what became the biggest espionage case in American history, arresting several ASL contractual interpreters in a sting operation overnight. As it's well known that there are many Deaf civilian employees in the defense industries and in the intelligence gathering field that protects our national security interests. The break in the case came when an ASL interpreter was caught stealing USB device two decades ago from a Deaf federal employee's computer containing sensitive classified information at the National Security Agency (NSA) in Greenbelt, Maryland. The interpreter, a Russian immigrate, confessed that was then an agent with the KGB until the fall of the Soviet Union. The FBI got involved in the case after another ASL interpreter at the CIA was seen passing microfiche to an informant. It was also discovered that these operatives of the KGB became fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) studying at then Gallaudet College, the world's only liberal-arts college for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. All of these ASL interpreters are recruited by the Soviet Embassy and none of them have diplomatic immunity from prosecution. Some already been deported, others escaped after their identities been exposed in a tabloid. FBI also raid several defense plants across the nation, mostly the aerospace industries, rounding them up, all facing up to life in prison depending on our losses. Congress is planning a hearing on this matter, giving the responsibilities to the Intelligence Oversight Committee. The President is aware of the situation and may cause further sanctions against Russia.

This is Smokey stay tuned for the next episode of Deaf Anthology, Good Night Deaf America!
