In this town, there are two Deaf churches on the same street, the Baptist on the left, and the Church of Christ on the right. Is it a coincident that on this Sunday, they both are using the same verses, preaching about "love one another" in their sermon. I notice that they are singing and signing the same hymns, collecting offerings, conducting the Lord's supper in that order. Both Deaf pastors warns the congregational that the church across the street are liberals, teaching false doctrines, and don't follow the Bible. Deaf can't decide which to attend, that's easy, go to the one having the potluck that day, one with the shortest sermon, or the best rumor mill. If it is the football season, forsake the assembly.Let's look at a verse:
"Believe, and be baptized, and you'll be saved."
The Baptists claims that if you believed, you shall be saved. No, No, No you got it wrong, the Church of Christ pointed out you must be baptized to be saved.
I learned at Gallaudet in the Greek language, the placement of comma can changed the whole meaning of the sentence. The verse above is a conjunction, not a preposition. Our background affect our understanding of anything that shouldn't be complicated in the first place. We are wasting our time, debating over this issue since the reformation, or the restoration movement, leaving the early church out of the equation since they have enough problems of their own battling gnosticism. Sin is the only reason we'll never comprehend anything beyond the realm of our minds.
Debating salvation is akin to questioning when does life begins, at conception or at birth, no matter what position you take, the final product being that of a human being.
The same principle applies to salvation, no matter what position you take, you are reborn, the final product being that of a Christian.
As for myself, I take a Calvinistic viewpoint that God have the final say in this matter, because He chosen His own people, does that settle it, hopefully so.
Deaf Anthology doesn't limited itself to any genre, as we spread out to discuss a variety of secular topics, whether relevant or not, to expand our consciousness of the universe, and the mysteries within.
