I don't know what about you guys, I propose that the Deafnation World Expo be held every five years, the next 2015 being in Milan, Italy. My reasoning is that since that an universal world's fair (Class A), recognized and sanctioned by the Paris based Bureau of International Exposition (BIE), are held every five years, so maybe Joel Barish ought to adopt this idea.

Perhaps Deafnation can also set up a criteria to recognize smaller, specialized (regional) Deafnation Expos being held between those years.
Expo 2012, a specialized world's fair (class B) is being held in Yeosu, Korea. I think maybe the Korean Association of the Deaf should with officials to plan an event on its site.

The Las Vegas Deafnation World Expo is an overwhelming success, however some Deaf are going to the Expo 2010 now being held in Shanghai, China. Here's their promotional video.

Since the Olympics are held every four years, the Deaflympics follow the same pattern, often in the same city as in the case with SLC previously. We need an international body that will sanctioned and recognized international Deaf events, other than the Deaflympics, perhaps Deafnation fit the bill. I thought about the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) because they do list events on their website, but they have enough burden of their own focusing on political matters. I am sure that Joel Barish will ask for feedbacks after Las Vegas, I don't know what's next, but at least I gave my input on this blog. Perhaps the Deafnation have something in store us that is beyond my imagination. I have no doubts that they will top what they just done.
I can discuss more in details but I will just be brief on this, one other thing I hope that Gallaudet University will host Deafway III to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
I just realized that this weekend is the 20th anniversary of ADA.
If you can't afford to go to China, here's an opportunity to visit the USA pavilion.

One more thing I to discuss before going offline is the question of accessibility at world fairs, yes, sign language interpreters are available, both native and Gestuno, but I think the best thing is that you can borrow the China Telecom PDA onsite at Expo 2010 which have both captioning and sign langauge modes, using the GPS technology. Here's a video demonstration of one used at Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain. Cool, isn't it?
Just an afterthought, wouldn't Orlando be a good site of the next Deafnation World Expo in the United States, I will like to see it occurred at same time as other major convention such as the summer Consumer Electronics Show (CES). How about floating exhibits, a cruise maybe.
This is Smokey, stay tuned for the next episode of Deaf Anthology. Good night, Deaf America!
