Deaf Anthology # 394: "Eli"

This is a film review of Denzel Washington's "Eli," with the spoiler. It's forty years since the nuclear holocaust, chaos everywhere, every man for himself like the Roman empire after its collapse. What we need is a renaissance, a rebirth of civilization but it's impossible without law and order. There isn't anyone in authority, they come and go but there got to be a way, nothing to live by where death ends one's suffering. The only hope is in the scriptures but it was thought that the forbidden texts were all destroyed during the war, this one leader wants to get his hand on a copy as it can be used as a weapon, sending off his gangs in search of it, even to the point of murder. Here's Eli with a mission to go West, nothing around him, even cannibalism, is of no concern to him. You couldn't tempted him with anything, as he keeping himself straight, reading verses in his free time. Whatever you do, just don't touch him or you won't get it back, not to be taken lightly. Go after him and get whatever that you desired, and you'll regret it. Eli completed his mission after reaching a Alcatraz Island, on the bay where they looking forward to printing the scriptures for distribution, giving hope to mankind. The gang leader back there opened it only to find that the source of power is useless as it's in Braille. Eli, blind, got it all memorized, having the scribes writing it all down, once again it's the Dawn of Man, maybe generations of peace we sought.
