Deaf Anthology # 275: "Recession"

I am wondering how does the recession impact our Deaf education. Are the states cutting funds to their residential schools? In similar manners, the local school districts cutting funds to their mainstreamed programs? What are their priorities, what goes first? Does Deaf education get their fair share of the government stimulus Click to get cool Animations for your MySpace profilepackages, if so then how are they distributed.
This is my assumptions, supposed the breadwinner is laid off, would the family send a mainstreamed Deaf child to a residential school to make ends meet? If only temporally until the economy improves. They will definitely be more socially active with their peers rather than hanging out at the mall. What if the administrator is left with a choice, cut staffing or extra-curricular activities. Those with seniority will have to deal with stress accepting an increased load. If sports were cut, then it will be a challenge to retained their athletes. Do we have the discipline to be frugal ourselves. Educators may stay put where they are rather than transferring to a new setting, making recruiting difficult, leaving several unfilled positions. Our parents survived the Great Depression, there are many obstacles in front of us, but we'll managed somehow, if not overnight.
