I have researched the Library of Congress, trying to find out who is the first sign language interpreter in history. That brings us back to the days of the Roman Empire, when Julius Caesar was emperor. The search narrowed down to ancient manuscripts found in the caves by the Dead Sea. Those manuscripts are fragments of what is now known as the scriptures. In the writings of Mark, translated from Greek, we finally discovered who possibly could have been our first interpreter. This is the foundations of our Deaf Theology.Mark 7:31
Jesus just returned from Tyre.
Mark 7:32
A Deaf-Mute was bought to Him, and was asked that he be healed.
Mark 7:33
He grabbed his ears and bought him aside.
Mark 7:34
"Ephphatha"
Mark 7:35
Now that he can hear, but remain mute, he wondered why.
Mark 7:36
"I healed you so you can be my interpreter." Jesus asked him to accompany him as they were on their way to the Sea of Galilee.
Mark 7:37
Now the Deaf can receive the Good News!
As you can see, it was not just the twelve disciples that were with Jesus, that Deaf man was healed to be an instant interpreter, a convenience since there are many Deaf among the masses, since he already know ASL, in this case, Arabic Sign Language, to translate His famous parables. This Smokey, stay tuned to the next episode of Deaf Anthology. Good night, Deaf America!

What you wrote about Mark 7:31-37 is not true to the text. It is better to use the NRSV, NIV or another "standard" Bible.

Jay Croft,
Did you read "Disclaimer:
The Deaf Anthology blogs are fictional, read at your own risk!" above of the story?
I enjoy reading Deaf Anthology and I knew that most of his writings are fictional. He has a lot of good thinking.
